Waconia's Two New Local Breweries

Two local breweries open in Waconia this summer.

With three vineyards and wineries, Waconia is becoming a destination for
local wine, but there’s more brewing in town. Schram Vineyards Winery &
Brewery (schramvineyards.com) started brewing small batches of beer and serving
it in June, and Waconia Brewing Company (waconiabrewing.com) plans to open its
doors in Waconia Square Development (the old Mackenthun’s building) in late
July.

Schram Vineyards is the first winery and brewery hybrid in the state, and the
plan is to offer four to eight beers on tap in the tasting pavilion along with
their wines. The beers will be brewed in small batches, allowing the brewery to
offer a large variety of beers that will come and go throughout the summer—and
they’re not ruling out creating beer/wine hybrids, either. Because the Schrams
are so adventurous, they’re also planning to experiment growing their own hops.

Waconia Brewing Company has a taproom on site, so beer drinkers can enjoy a
pint at the home of their favorite brew, and it’ll also be on tap at local bars
and restaurants.
