With exposed Chaska brick, a long, rambling layout of rooms and a wooden bar,
the third floor of The Mill in downtown Chaska seemed to have potential, says
Krista Flemming, who bought the building with her husband and parents in May
But it wasn’t until it dawned on Flemming, who is a scrap booker, to convert
the space into a retreat and event center that things started to take shape. A
large room off the entry has plenty of tables for crafting, along with the bar,
which is perfect for laying out a buffet of snacks and drinks. A smaller room
with a leather couch and sky lights lends itself to curling up with a book, and
a complete kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms with six beds each make the space
an ideal location for a girls weekend—especially with a variety of shops and
restaurants within walking distance.
The space is also open for meetings, graduation parties, rehearsal dinners
and other events. Cy’s Bar, which is on the first floor of the building, is
available to cater and to serve liquor at events.
