Senior Spotlight: Passion for Performing

International School of Minnesota senior Carina Debuque loves music.

Now in her senior year at the International School of Minnesota, Carina Debuque set the bar high when it came to creating a high school goal: “Do it all, learn all of it.”

Ambitious is putting it lightly. Debuque manages a rich and diverse course load of three AP courses and one pre-AP course, ranging from advanced science courses to her passion, the humanities.

She became interested in the humanities, particularly performing arts, by way of her father. Beginning with violin lessons in second grade, Debuque continues her musical endeavors today, serving as her school’s choir captain and concert master for instrument ensembles. She was also recently cast in the role of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, ISM’s all-school April musical. Debuque describes part of her passion for performing as “a way to give back to the world of music,” and a tribute to others, as well as to fellow performers.
