Downtown Carver’s historic charm coupled with a variety of independently owned shops and businesses make it a delightful destination for a day of shopping. If you’d like to get an early start on holiday shopping, we recommend planning a trip November 12-14 when the Occasional Shops of Carver are open.
From women’s clothing to home décor and vintage-style candy to flowers, the shops have plenty to offer. “When people come to town, it’s not all the same stores selling the same thing,” says Brandy Dressen, a co-owner of Carver Junk Company. “It’s a huge variety of items.”
After cruising through the shops—including Carver Junk Company (108 Fourth St. E.; 612.615.8650; carverjunkcompany.com), Studio H (308 N. Broadway; 952.356.4791), The Good Junk Garage (109 Third St. E.; 952.212.8454) and others—stop for refreshment at A Cup of Carver (490 Old Carver Road, Carver; 952.405.9937; acupofcarver.com) coffee shop or Harvey’s Bar (220 N. Broadway; 952.448.2289).
Most of the downtown Carver shops are open occasionally—usually one weekend a month. “It creates a sense of urgency,” Dressen says. “What’s here now won’t be here next month.”
