New Event Venue Bavaria Downs Transports Guests to Old World Europe

Old World vibes are closer than you think with a quick drive to Chaska.

Envision being immersed in European elegance, surrounded by an immense estate and picturesque grounds overlooking a lake. You don’t have to imagine for long because Bavaria Downs, a new upscale event center, offers all of this and more.

Located in Chaska, Bavaria Downs hosts large-scale events, such as weddings, galas, birthday celebrations or corporate meetings. The 30,000-square-foot venue, named the Edward Anne Estate, is designed in traditional French Normandy style and features high ceilings, natural light and exposed wood beams. It is even the only venue in the nation that has a steam-shingled roof, which adds to its unique charm. Inside, the estate offers bridal and groom suites and reception rooms, while outside is a 270-acre property, complete with a private lake and an outdoor amphitheater that can be used for wedding ceremonies.

Tim George, the owner of three other event venues in the Twin Cities area, A’bulae, The Van Dusen Mansion and Bellagala, recently purchased Bavaria Downs. His other properties have been featured in Minnesota Bride Magazine and received recognitions, such as the All-Around Best Wedding Vendor and Best Twin Cities Venue.

The entire team at Bavaria Downs focuses on delivering beautiful events, no matter if clients prefer classic chic, relaxed Bohemian or rustic vintage styles. Matt Balshaw, director of marketing, says the event center is “stunning and allows for guests to have a dynamic experience.”

For those who are looking for less aggravation and stress when it comes to organizing their event, let Bavaria Downs handle it all. The staff offers a total venue package, which includes the availability of an event coordinator; access to the bride and groom suites, private pool, lake and ballroom; as well as catering for the event and valet parking for the guests.

The entire event center is catered exclusively by D’Amico Catering. It provides an entire dining experience, starting with hors d'oeuvres, moving to the entrées and finishing with desserts. Staff is able to accommodate for nearly every dietary requirement, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free, as well as address any other food allergies their clients or guests may have.

Some of the favorite items on the menu include an apple and white cheddar panini with charred jalapeno jam and seared grouper with artichoke, chard, fingerlings and caramelized shallots. For those with a sweet tooth, the baked chocolate mousse with chocolate ganache, brandied dark sweet cherries and a chocolate cherry sauce is a delightful end to any meal.

A full staff of bartenders and mixologists are on hand to create the perfect cocktail, such as the Sovereign Estate—a blend of Sovereign Estate Winery 2014 seyval blanc, fresh fruit, peach puree and an orange slice.

New to the grounds this fall is an 8,000-square-foot ballroom, complete with crystal chandeliers and a speaker system sure to get any party going. The vibe will be Spanish inspired with an intricate tiled floor and large windows that open out onto the grounds.

Bavaria Downs strives to transport clients and guests into an enchanted European world for an event long remembered.
