The Chanhassen Dinner Theatres presents its 2017 holiday concert series, offering a variety of shows suitable for all age groups and musical tastes. Whether audience members hold a preference for modern or traditional holiday music, the series is a great way to celebrate the winter season.
The Rock & Roll Christmas Show offers a unique mix of classic rock with traditional Christmas songs or what co-producer Paul Diethelm calls a “mash-up.” Unique combinations include Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with Peter Frampton’s Show Me the Way. A performance infused with comedy, the eight musicians feature guitar, drums and a keyboard to enhance their creative sounds.
2 Girls & A Boyd Got New Shoes For Christmas With Special Guest Pat Donohue features Mary Jane Alm and Aimée and Boyd Lee with New Shoes, a group included in A Prairie Home Companion. New Shoes includes members Gary Raynor, Peter Johnson, Joe Savage and Richard Kriehn. The show also features Grammy Award winner Pat Donohue. “The music has a homey-vibe,” Lee says on the folk and pop groups.
An Andy & Bing Christmas, with vocals by Mick Sterling and Ben Utecht, is in its third year. The show features two popular Christmas albums, The Andy Williams Christmas Album and Bing Crosby’s Merry Christmas. “It’s a trip down memory lane,” Utecht says. With a 20-piece orchestra and captivating vocals, viewers of all ages will enjoy Christmas classics from White Christmas to O, Holy Night.
Chanhassen Dinner Theatre tops off the spectacular holiday line-up with the New Year’s Eve Gala. The event is an inclusive package ushering in the new year with dinner and a show, live music and dancing, Stevie Ray’s Comedy Improv, complimentary champagne at midnight, followed by coffee and sweets ($99 per person).
