Learn About Online Public School at Free Event

MTS Minnesota Connections Academy, a tuition-free, K-12 virtual public school, will host a free information session for families interested in learning about its online program and individualized approach to education. Families will have the opportunity to meet with Connections Academy faculty, explore the school’s program and curriculum, and learn about the enrollment process.

Tails for Reading

Elementary school-aged children are invited to spend time reading aloud to specially trained therapy dogs. Reading aloud to pets in a judgment-free zone is a great way to build a child’s confidence. Free. 10:30 a.m.–noon. Chaska Library, 3 City Hall Plaza, Chaska; 952.227.7615;

In Laura’s House: Weaving

Travel back in time to Laura’s simpler era—you know, that Laura (Ingalls Wilder, we mean). Weave on a loom, make heart-shaped cookies, and play fox and geese in a snowy field. Reservations required. Orchid Exhibit

Celtic Holiday Hooley

Take a night off from your regular Wednesday night plans and join the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres for the Celtic Holiday Hooley. Geminid Meteor Shower

This is one of the best meteor showers of the year, and many telescopes will be set up to view the moon, Orion Nebula, Jupiter, and more. Astronomer Mike Lynch from WCCO Radio will be on-site, and everyone who attends will receive a celestial photograph to take home. Who's Watching Mom?

Many baby-boomers worry about the care needs for an elderly parent.  Their parents may live with the uncertainty of chronic illness and disability and have a whole host of planning issues.

However, either caregivers are overwhelmed with conflicting information or don't know where to seek help. Such a lack of information, or the wealth of conflicting information, adds to their anxiety about caring for an elderly parent. Indeed, it takes a team to protect an elderly person and every aspect of planning should be addressed.
