Music in March

The Chanhassen Library is celebrating March with a weekly music event: each Sunday will feature a local performer at the library with a very different style from another part of the world. Performances will feature music from the Middle East, the Balkans, Ireland, the Andes Mountains, and bluegrass music, just to keep things a little interesting. 952.227.1500.

Disney's The Little Mermaid

Don’t miss the Midwest premiere of Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. A Year With Frog and Toad

Join some of your favorite childhood characters in the Chaska Valley Family Theatre’s production of A Year With Frog and Toad, a fun woodland production based on Arnold Lobel’s children’s books. Though the two amphibians are polar opposites, their friendship and adventures will be fun and inspiring for the whole family. 952.250.7206.

Omnium Gatherum

Let yourself be dazzled by some of the best high school thespians in the state at this somber show. Based on the events of September 11, 2001, this play will be performed by eight secondary students from across the state who have been rehearsing all winter. Twelve Angry Jurors

The Eden Prarie Players is kicking off its 2014 season with Reginald Rose’s famous show Twelve Angry Jurors. A tense drama depicting jury deliberations in a homicide trial, this play explores doubt, peace, anger and discrimination, and is sure to leave viewers thinking about just what defines justice in America. Seasons of Music: Debbie Duncan and Band

Looking for some romantic tunes to get you and your loved one in the Valentine’s mood? Head to the Arboretum and see Debbie Duncan and her band perform a series of romantic jazz ballads. Wind Ensemble/Concordia College Band Concert

Students in the Eden Prairie High School Wind Ensemble will have the opportunity to collaborate with a college band tonight, after attending a special daylong clinic led by Concordia College Band conductor Dr. Peter Haberman. After the clinic, a public concert will be held so that the students can show off what they’ve learned and play in perfect harmony with the Concordia band. 952.975.8000.

Watercolor Birch Tree

Watercolor paintings are a great way to add a little extra color to any room, and this Artsy Smartsy-run class at the Chanhassen Library will let you make your very own masterpiece. You’ll learn the basics of masking, watercolor, and inking, and will leave with a birch tree painting that’s truly one-of-a-kind for you to hang over your fireplace. Rock on Ice

The Waconia Ice Arena is the coolest place to be on Friday nights this winter, when the rock tunes blare and the laser lights switch on.
