Eden Prairie and surrounding residents have come to look forward to the Eden Prairie Lions Club’s annual Schooner Days, which is set for 5-11 p.m. May 31; 1-11 p.m. June 1; and noon-4 p.m. June 2 at Round Lake Park, 16691 Valley View Road. In its 55th year, the event pays friendly homage to prairie schooners (covered wagons), which rolled through this area with settlers.

More than 10,000 attendees will be treated to carnival rides, bingo, food, beer, music and softball and pickleball tournaments and more. Funds raised from the event go toward Lions and Lioness clubs’ community projects.

“The event has become a great way for the community to celebrate the transition into the Minnesota summer months,” says Gary Stevens, Lions Club member. “Schooner Days has become a reunion for those individuals who grew up here … Whole neighborhoods show up to play bingo Friday, Saturday and Sunday … On Friday night and Saturday night, we have a bingo coverall which generally will pay out $400.00 to the winner.”

If you’ve never attended with your family, what are you waiting for?
