Moneyball
by Michael Lewis

For those of you who either love the insider’s view of major league baseball or those who enjoy seeing conventional wisdom debunked. Real people make great characters.

The Book Thief
by Markus Zusak

This book is fantastic—it’s as simple as that. Beautifully written, this is the story of Liesel Meminger, a German girl during WWII, with Death as the narrator. While this sounds very dark, and Liesel experiences many tragic events in her young life, the book has a surprising amount of humor in it too.

Dead Until Dark
by Charlaine Harris

For fans of the HBO series True Blood, this book is a must read. Set in rural Louisiana, this is the story of Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress, and the new man/vampire in her life, Bill Compton. Both get caught up in the mystery of who is killing women in their small town. —recommendations from librarians at the Hennepin County Library–Eden Prairie
