Eden Prairie, Chanhassen and More Offer Family-friendly Halloween Events

Celebrate Halloween in your own backyard.

For a truly terrific haunt this Halloween, look no further than your own backyard. From new twists on trick-or-treating to carving the perfect jack-o’-lantern, there’s something fun for all of the ghosts in your life.

Head over to Chaska, and you can take a trip down the Jack-o’-Lantern Trail of Fun, where there will be hayrides, a pumpkin archery shoot-out and a fire pit, where you can make your own handcrafted s’more, all at the Athletic Park. The winners from a pumpkin carving contest will be featured, as well. Want to get some shopping done while you grow your candy stash? Trick-or-treaters can visit to the Eden Prairie Mall on Halloween to pick up sweet treats and meet local police officers and firefighters. 5-7:30 p.m., October 31, 8251 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie.

In Chanhassen, the Halloween party at the Recreation Center is another spot for trick-or-treaters. Special events also include hay rides, various performances and snacks galore. 5:30-7:30 p.m., October 27, 2310 Coulter Blvd., Chanhassen.

Animal lovers should check out the Eden Prairie Outdoor Center to learn more about the animals that go bump in the night, and scoop up some candy along the way. 6-9 p.m., October 27; 13765 Staring Lake Parkway., Eden Prairie.
