Love That Boy: What Two Presidents, Eight Road Trips, and My Son Taught Me about a Parent’s Expectations by Ron Fournier—how I wish this book had been written when my daughter was little. It is the best “parenting guide” I have ever read, and I have read a lot.
This delightful story starts when Ron and his wife discover that their son, Tyler, has Asperger’s syndrome. Like any good mother, Ron’s wife tells him that he needs to help Tyler learn how to behave in public. The education takes place during eight road trips to presidential libraries, an interest father and son share. Ron worked for the Associated Press in Washington, and Tyler knows just about everything about the presidents.
As you can guess from the title, Ron is the one who gets educated. Tyler has a funny, quirky sense of humor, especially evident on the trip to the Roosevelt Library. He tries hard not to embarrass his father, as they meet former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
