Freewheel Bike in Eden Prairie

Freewheel Bike rolls into town.

With hundreds of miles of bike trails crisscrossing the southwest metro, it’s no surprise that the area has attracted another bike shop. Freewheel Bike is the latest to open in Eden Prairie, joining Erik’s Bike Shop, which opened a new store in Eden Prairie last year, and Bokoo Bikes in Chanhassen.

Freewheel Bikes’ new 7,000-square-foot store is in the space formerly occupied by the Outback Steakhouse at 12910 Plaza Dr., and the company chose to open its third metro location in Eden Prairie because of the city’s reputation for being bike-friendly, with more than 125 miles of bike paths. “We believe our mission is to make the world a better place through cycling,” says Freewheel Bike owner Kevin Ishaug, who commutes by bike to his two existing bike shops in Minneapolis nearly every day. “Every one of our Freewheel Bike employees is passionate about biking, and that’s reflected in their knowledge and experience. Together, we selected Eden Prairie because it offers the perfect link for those riding for fun or work between Minneapolis and the western suburbs of the Twin Cities.”

The store sells bicycles, bike accessories and apparel, and it also offers classes as well as bike repair and maintenance services.
