Art- and wine-lovers converge at the fifth annual ArtStock Wine and Music Festival at Parley Lake Winery in Waconia. The one-day arts festival is a free event organized by the Arts Consortium of Carver County in an effort to support the local arts community, featuring time to relax with friends and family while enjoying music, food and award-winning Parley Lake wine.
The partnership between the Arts Consortium and Parley Lake Winery was sparked five years ago with the first art and wine event centered around the unveiling of the first barn quilt in the area. The tradition has since evolved into a bigger and better gathering of art lovers, music lovers and, of course, wine lovers. “The partnership truly enables the phrase ‘Art and wine, life is fine’ to be realized,” says Steve Zeller, winemaker/co-owner at Parley Lake Winery.
Attendees will get the chance to listen to three different musicians throughout the day, sample food and purchase unique art and crafts from local artists, including wares from Waconia’s Unearthed Arts. New this year is the distribution of a CD compiled by the Arts Consortium, Songwriters and Musicians of Carver County, featuring 15 original songs by local musicians.
There will also be plenty of activities for the children including a petting zoo and the opportunity to create their very own barn quilt patterns. “It’s a lovely nature setting, with tables to sit and drink wine and listen to music all afternoon,” says Barb Hone, president of the Arts Consortium.
