Senior Spotlight: Balancing Act

Emma Lohman, senior at Waconia High, is an accomplished swimmer, musician and volunteer.

With the number of accomplishments Emma Lohman has under her belt, it’s a surprise she has time to spare during a day. A senior at Waconia High School, Emma spends plenty of time with her swim team, which she has been the captain of for two years. She’s been a swimmer for the Waconia program since seventh grade; she holds the 200 meter free style relay record at Waconia High.

She has also maintained a 4.0 grade point average during high school while taking AP courses.

Emma is an active musician in the Power Company Show Choir, a flutist in curricular band and a street performer with her marching band.

When she isn’t involved in school activities, she’s volunteering through National Honor Society and her local 4-H chapter, of which she is president. She also shows her llama at the county fair and the Minnesota State Fair.

“It’s challenging at times to balance school and extracurricular activities,” Emma says. “It’s all about prioritizing.”
