Chanhassen’s Thomas Cook captured a dockside view of fall’s color story with Lake Ann Dock, which placed first in the City Landscapes category for our annual photo contest.

The photo was taken with a Nikon 5100, 50mm lens. “It was just a really nice fall day, went out for a walk and thought the angles looked interesting when I got to the dock,” Cook says.

“Lake Ann is a great place for walk, and I have enjoyed walking through the woods, looking for interesting things to photograph,” Cook says. “I look mostly for the small things in nature, as I like to do close-up photos, which bring out the details that you don’t normally see. Most of my nature photos are taken in Carver County at the many parks and public areas and at Carver Park Reserve. It is amazing what you can find right outside your door if you take the time to look.”
