Check out Discover Victoria Day on May 12, and learn about the city's new local shopping rewards program.

While the cheerful chaos of the Governor's Fishing Opener has Waconia hopping on May 12, take the time to Discover Victoria. The city is planning a special, family-friendly event to officially launch it's new local shopping rewards program and to highlight ways to support downtown businesses during the construction on Hwy 5 this summer.

The Discover Victoria business expo from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Victoria Recreation Center will highlight local businesses and resources, with lots of fun activities for children, including a fishing pond, bounce house, putt putt golf course, minnow races and more.

Discover Victoria day also marks the official launch of the new shoppers' reward program in Victoria called Point Stack. The community-based shopping program allows shoppers to accrue rewards by shopping at local businesses without the hassle of keeping track of a bunch of "loyalty cards." Points are accrued when the shopper uses his or her own credit card. Shoppers can register for the program for free, and when they make purchases at participating local businesses in Victoria, they earn points that can be “spent” at other local businesses. Visit pointstack.com/Victoria to find a list of local businesses participating in the program and to sign up for rewards.

Construction on Hwy 5 starts May 30 and is scheduled to end September 30, but local businesse are banding together to create lots of good reasons to shop downtown Victoria this summer. Check out more information about the theme nights and family-friendly events here.
