Pay it Forward
Aurora Jewelers (11995 Singletree Ln., Eden Prairie) is offering a great deal for its customers in need of a watch battery: They'll replace a watch battery for free in exchange for a donation to Store to Door, a local non-profit that offers grocery shopping and delivery for homebound senior citizens.
The jewelry shop has already raised more than $1,000 for Store to Door, and owners plan to continue running this promotion until September. "It has been wonderful, and people just love it," says Cyrea Carpenter, who works at the shop. "A normal battery is $10 to $15, and I have received donations for $5 to $50 for one battery."
This is the third year that Aurora Jewelry has offered this program. The first year, the store raised $7,900 for Homes for our Troops, and the second year, it raised $8,400 for the American Cancer Society, Carpenter says.
