Artist Shares Gift for Performing with Local Seniors

Carol Zimmerman Local Musician

While driving past a senior living community, do you ever wonder about the life happening inside? Maybe parents, grandparents or family friends are residents. Regardless, be very glad if Tara B (Tara Brueske) is slated to provide the entertainment for the day.

A local musician, Brueske performs as a soloist and together we make up The BZ Girls. She is one of the hardest-working full-time musicians in the area. Brueske is an entertainer, vocal coach, composer, speaker, recording artist and piano teacher.  With all of that on tap, one of her favorite crowds to play for is senior citizens. After those performances, she often shares heartwarming stories, inspiring others with her experiences.

“Just the other day, I was singing the 1910 love song, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, and I looked up to see many seniors singing along, mouthing the words, and some just closing their eyes in sweet surrender to a memory in their past,” she says.  Brueske believes that God has given her this medium to cheer and lighten people’s hearts.

If the future finds any of us living in a senior community, hopefully there’ll be another musician like Brueske who will drop by to joyfully play and sing our favorite musical memories.
