Elizabeth Moriarty: Volunteer Extraordinaire

The local high school student gives back to the community.
Carolyn Pierson | June 2012

At first glance, a week in the life of Elizabeth Moriarty might look pretty standard: homework, sports (alpine skiing and karate), National Honors Society and gearing up for college applications. But on Saturdays, you’ll find this Eden Prairie junior busy digging through bins of used clothes or setting up furniture at The PROP Shop, a local resale store and nonprofit. “I just consider volunteering one of my weekly activities,” says Moriarty, who clocks around 60 hours of volunteering per year and is also on the Relay for Life committee and president of High Schools Against Cancer–Eden Prairie. —Carolyn Pierson
